Challenge yourself. On sea and land.
Navy cadets is the perfect answer for active teenagers.
Navy cadets is about fun, friendship, action and adventure. We inspire young people to challenge their limits and go further in life, no matter what they aim to do.
See what the cadets do - check out our gallery page and see them in action.
From the age of 13 years (or year 9+) to 20 years, Navy Cadets is a leadership and activity-based programme run independently of, but alongside the New Zealand Defence Force.
As cadets progress through Navy cadets they have opportunities to go to sea with the Navy on the HMNZS vessels or travel overseas on exchange trips to visit cadet forces in other countries.
But all they think is that they’re having fun. Including sailing, tramping, shooting, bush-craft, camps, first aid and sea survival skills.
